Madison police conduct death investigation
Body found in wooded area
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating a death Sunday night, after someone discovered a body on the city’s west side.
A person was taking a nature walk in a wooded area in the 7900 block of Tree Lane, when they found a body at around 4:40 p.m.
The caller reported to police that the head on the body was gone. However, police investigated and determined the head was not gone. Instead, the body had decomposed so much, it was difficult to tell right away.
Police said there is no indication of foul play at this time. They believe the victim died in that location.
Authorities said the body is female, but are still working on a positive ID.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
