Madison, Palo Alto mayors make Rose Bowl wager
Losing city will organize tree planting
MADISON, Wis. — Madison Mayor Paul Soglin and Palo Alto Mayor Yiaway Yeh have agreed to a Rose Bowl wager.
The Pac-12 champion Stanford Cardinals call Palo Alto home. The eighth-ranked Cardinals and Wisconsin Badgers kick off on Jan. 1 at 4 p.m. in the 99th annual Rose Bowl.
The losing mayor will wear the opposing team’s hat during a Common Council meeting, and will display the flag of the winning team for a day in January.
The losing city will organize a tree planting in honor of the winning team.
“Any city can benefit from additional trees, and we’re delighted that Mayor Yeh and the city of Palo Alto are going to provide them,” Soglin said in a news release. “I think it’s great that we can have fun with the game and provide a benefit to a community and I’m confident Barry and the Badgers will come through for us.”
