Madison mayor gets COVID-19 vaccine booster at Alliant Energy Center clinic

MADISON, Wis. — Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway got her COVID-19 vaccine booster shot Friday and encouraged others to do the same.

Rhodes-Conway said she wanted to show the community how easy it is to make an appointment now that the clinic at the Alliant Energy Center is open.

The mayor is encouraging residents to sign up as soon as they are eligible.

“What we really need as a community is for as many people as possible to be both vaccinated and then boosted so that we can maintain our herd immunity,” she said.

Health officials say the booster shots strengthen recipients’ immune systems and act as an extra defense against the virus.
