Madison man’s body found in Lake Wingra
No signs of foul play, PD says
MADISON, Wis. — The body of a Madison man in his 50s was found in Lake Wingra early Wednesday, police said.
Madison police said officers responded at 9:04 a.m. to a report of a body floating in the water just off the pier at Wingra Park and Boat Livery on Knickerbocker Street.
Sgt. John Rife said passersby saw clothes on the pier, then spotted the body in the water.
About two hours into the investigation Wednesday, police said there were no signs of foul play, and the death was under investigation by Madison police and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Wingra Park was reopen by noon.
