Madison man sentenced 4 years for distributing ecstasy
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man was sentenced to four years in federal prison for distributing the drug known as ecstasy or molly, according to a release from the Department of Justice.
Jonathan Britton, 29, was charged for his involvement in a Sept. 14, 2016, sale of a quarter ounce of the substance in an undercover operation. He pleaded guilty on Aug. 31, according to officials.
The judge commented on Britton’s long criminal history and past violent offenses, and observed that a sentence of four years was necessary to protect the public and adequately offer Britton necessary retaliative programs to prevent his return to illegal conduct when released, according to the release.
The charge against was the result of an investigation conducted by the Dane County Narcotics Task Force and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, officials said.
