Madison man killed in crash in Monona identified
MONONA, Wis. — Authorities have identified the Madison man killed in a crash involving a utility pole in Monona Monday night.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office says Joseph M. Swenson, 21, died as a result of the crash.
The crash happened along the 4600 block of Winnequah Road around 7:20 p.m.
Swenson was the only person in the car, and no other injuries were reported.
Dan Eklof, the assistant fire chief for the Monona Fire Department, confirmed the fatality and said that high speeds were believed to have been a factor in the crash.
