Madison man gets 10 years in prison for distributing child pornography
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man will spend the next 10 years in federal prison for the distribution of child pornography.
52-year-old Brian Lamphier pleaded guilty to the child porn distribution charges and was sentenced by a federal judge Tuesday. Lamphier will also serve 15 years of supervised release once he gets out of prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the Madison Police Department received a tip in June 2019 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Lamphier was using Facebook to talk with a potential minor and was possibly sending images of child pornography.
The person Lamphier was talking to ended up being 19 years old and not a minor, and the images couldn’t be verified as showing underage children, but Madison Police did allegedly warn Lamphier that his behavior was toeing the line of being illegal.
About a year later, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children again alerted Madison Police that a man — later identified as Lamphier — was allegedly trying to entice a 15-year-old boy to engage in sexual conduct by using Facebook Messenger.
Authorities investigated and found Lamphier met the minor and paid him for sexual activity from March through June of 2020. Lamphier took nude photos of the minor during those encounters, and on April 8, 2020, sent one of those pictures to the 19-year-old he had previously been talking to.
