Madison Man Arrested On Suspicion Of 9th OWI

Police arrested a Madison man on suspicion of his ninth drunken driving offense on Monday.

An officer pulled over Jack Brown, 59, while he was driving 45 mph on the West Beltline Highway at around 1 a.m.

The officer conducted a traffic stop after he learned Brown’s registration plate wasn’t associated with any vehicle. The car was titled, but not registered to the man sitting in the passenger seat, reported the police.

When the officer asked Brown to undergo a field sobriety test, he refused. The officer decided he had probable cause to arrest Brown for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Brown refused a chemical test of his blood, said police “forced” a blood test and then transferred Brown to the Dane County Jail.
