Madison man arrested in December battery case
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a battery case last month.
According to an incident report, Robert L. Avery, 27, of Madison, was taken into custody Wednesday after Madison police detectives used surveillance images to identify a suspect in a case.
A Madison woman suffered injuries to her face after being struck with a handgun on Dec. 16 while she was outside in the 2000 block of Winnebago Street.
Police said the woman needed stitches and lost a tooth in the battery.
Officials said the victim told the detective she was also robbed during the crime.
Avery was arrested on suspicion of substantial battery, felon in possession of a firearm and armed robbery.
