Two local style experts offer shopping intel

Style editor Shayna Mace talks to Terese Zache and Laurinda Mahuta about closet essentials and consignment shopping tips

We queried owner Terese Zache about closet essentials.

What does every woman need in her wardrobe for a polished look?
A jacket, but not just any old jacket. The right jacket! Having the right jacket for your personality and your lifestyle is key to feeling polished. Whether it is an edgy leather zip-up, a blazer that fits just right or your most comfortable jean jacket, everyone needs a jacket that they feel great in. Gerry Weber, Iris, Damask, Bianca and Liverpool are all brands we carry that make wonderful jackets.

We asked Laurinda Mahuta, manager at the Pink Poodle, for some consignment intel.

What's your best consignment shopping tip?
I think the best thing to do when you come in here is to have an open mind because what you come in here for is not usually what you're looking for and what you end walking out with. [And] you can find great things, but it won't be here when you come back.

Sure, you can buy anything from a consignment store. But what are the best things to buy gently used?
Long formal gowns—we sell a lot of them and they are a fraction of the price you'd buy at the store. And shoes and handbags—Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Fossil, Cole Haan—we have them all.
