Celebrate Galentine's Day with these five food events

Cheers to your gals with beer or bottomless bubbly

If you've never heard of "Galentine's Day," you might be living under a rock the size of Pawnee, Indiana. Or you might be an Eagletonian. And if none of these references are making sense to you because you haven't seen NBC's "Parks and Recreation," here's a quick precursor of the unofficial holiday's origins.

Monday, Feb. 12
"I'm doing some last-minute Valentine's Day shopping" is the perfect excuse for setting up a pre-V Day Galentine's get together at toot + kate's winebar in Verona to browse a Valentine's pop-up shop. Clear your plans tonight to meet up with the girls for a few pour-it-yourself glasses of vino (half off glass-size pours of Prendo Pinot Noir) before checking out Strider Northwoods Mercantile's handmade goods inspired by Wisconsin's Northwoods. 6 p.m. click here for more info

Tuesday, Feb. 13
Karben4 Brewing wants to help “ladies celebrate ladies” as Leslie Knope would say with its K4 Galentine’s Day Celebration! K4 is releasing its Coco-Nut Brown Ale to honor the occasion and will be serving it all day long. Starting at 5 p.m., this event includes a build-your-own waffle bar, and a special tour of the brewery starts at 7 p.m. So grab your best gal pals and celebrate with great beer and waffles. Free to attend, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., click here for more info

Celebrate Galentine’s Day at Galentine’s Day - Board Games at Bos Meadery! Face off in board games while enjoying a couple pints and Roman Candle Pizza. Bos Meadery will provide the games but you’re welcome to bring a favorite one along if you prefer. Free to attend, 5:30-8:30 p.m., click here for more info

Treat yourself with Porter’s Valentine Pop-Up Market this Tuesday! From chocolate to a complimentary wine tasting, this event has all the essentials to celebrate the holiday with your best friends or to pick up some gifts for a significant other. The event will also include vendors selling coffee, lingerie and flower bouquets. Free to attend, 4-7 p.m., click here for more info

Wednesday, Feb. 14
Forget the flowers and celebrate Valentine’s Day with some friends and $20 bottomless bubbles at Camp Trippalindee’s All the Single Ladies V-Day Happy Hour. In addition to the flowing bubbly, you can spend $5 to make your own voodoo doll and $15 to infuse and take home your own vodka. While Camp Trippalindee is calling all single ladies, it notes that the event is not gender specific and that “there’s a single lady in all of us.” Free to attend, 5-8 p.m., click here for more info
