5 places with affordable pub grub

These restaurants are serving yummy foods

Chicken Lips
It took more than five years for the owner to come up with the original sauce, and the dry rub is its secret weapon. It’s no wonder that they move about 2,500 pounds of wings a week. 5508 County Hwy N, Sun Prairie

Cheap-Eat Must: A full plate of dry-rub chicken wings ($10) and a beer (each of the four on tap are less than $4)

Village Green Bar & Grill
All but five items on its menu are less than $9—so a meal here is easy on the wallet. 7508 Hubbard Ave., Middleton

Cheap-Eat Must: Enjoy Village Green’s roast pork loin sandwich for $5.50. Take your pick of either Cajun or barbecue seasoning.

Mid Town Pub
This place has a friendly atmosphere and quality pub food—some call it Middleton’s “Cheers.” 2405 Allen Blvd., Middleton

Cheap-Eat Must: The MTP Primers ($8.50), in which mini prime ribs coated with Horsey sauce sit atop a pretzel roll.

5th Quarter Sports Bar and Grill
In Badgerland, the fifth quarter basically means fiesta—and this bar and grill is no exception. 161 Horizon Drive, Verona

Cheap-Eat Must: The 5th Quarter Burger ($8.99) is a charbroiled seasoned burger on a home-style bun with smoked bacon, Canadian bacon, grilled black forest ham, sauteed onions, cheddar cheese and a fried egg.

Echo Tap and Grill
It’s been around for more than 70 years—affordable pub food has likely greased the wheels throughout the years. 554 W. Main St.

Cheap-Eat Must: The Echo Burger ($9.50) delivers with a brat patty on top of another burger patty. It’s then layered with fried onions and American and pepper jack cheeses. Try the Caprese Flatbread ($8) for a lighter alternative.
