Nothing quite says summer like sitting outside with a cold beverage with friends or family on a patio. What creates an even better summer scene is the addition of live music.
At various restaurants, bars and venues, live music is a staple of the summer events calendar. Here are a few places where you can listen to music while enjoying the warm weather during these precious summer months.
In the style of the traditional German biergartens, The Biergarten at Olbrich Park will sometimes have live polka performances. Located on Lake Monona, the park has rotating selection of beers to try all summer. You can always bring your dogs as well. 3527 Atwood Ave.
Capital Brewing Co.

The Cider Farm
In addition to brewing a wide array of ciders and brandy, The Cider Farm hosts live music nearly every Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy a flight of cider while listening to bands jam out. 8216 Watts Road
Garver Feed Mill
Located on Madison’s near east side, Garver Feed Mill has live music on its 2,000 square-foot patio. Garver hosts acoustic happy hour on various Thursdays, but also will have music on Fridays and other days of the week. Garver will also let you host parties on the patio with live music. Hop Haus Brewing Co.
Hop Haus Brewing Co. offers live music at both its Fitchburg and Verona locations, for fun nights on the patio out in the suburbs. Check its Facebook pages for upcoming events. 2975 Sub Zero Parkway, Fitchburg; 231 S. Main St., Verona
Karben4 Brewery
Another brewery that features regular live music events throughout the summer and a wide selection of craft beers is Karben4 Brewery. Karben4 often hosts music on Thursdays. 3698 Kinsman Blvd.
Lakeside St. Coffee House
Lakeside St. Coffee House serves coffee and breakfast, but in the evenings regularly hosts live music with beer and wine. Every Friday, you can attend the Bayside Bar series. 402 W. Lakeside St.
Mariner’s Inn
While Nau-Ti-Gal recently closed, Mariner’s Inn has live music on Lake Mendota every Saturday. The list of performances hasn’t been released yet, but in the past the genres have ranged each week. 5339 Lighthouse Bay Drive
Mickey’s Tavern
If you’re looking for a night out on Willy Street, Mickey’s Tavern offers dinner, drinks and live music. The days range, so check Facebook for what show is next. The bar also regularly hosts open mic nights if you want to try your hand at performing at the bar. 1524 Williamson St.
High Noon Saloon
High Noon Saloon is the perfect place to grab an ice-cold PBR and listen to live music during the summer. While the saloon is known for its stage, musicians also perform on the patio. Robinia Courtyard
If you find yourself at Black Locust Cafe, MadisonTap or Jardin, you can listen to live music at the connected Robinia Courtyard. The space has a regular of lineup with events frequently on Fridays and Saturdays. 829 E. Washington Ave.
Red & White Wine Bar
Pair a glass of wine — red or white, which ever you prefer — at Red & White Wine Bar with live music. Shows are typically Fridays and Saturdays. 331 E. Main St., Waunakee
The Wisco
The Wisco host bands on the patio under string lights. There are shows on Fridays where you can expect a variety of craft beers. They’ve also hosted karaoke in the past. 852 Williamson St.
Wisconsin Brewing Co.
Live music, nice weather and craft beer creates the trifecta of the perfect Wisconsin night. Wisconsin Brewing Co. has all three. Every week the brewery will host live music in addition to a whole host of other events. 1079 American Way, Verona
