Madison is lucky to have MMoCA
Do Ho Suh

A couple of weeks ago the WISC editorial board held its weekly meeting at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

It’s significant in that we both met with MMoCA staff and board members, and that we met there, in a space available for such meetings, because both reminded us of the extraordinary asset the museum is to our community.

First of all, it’s a first class museum in a first class facility.

The permanent collection is a treasure and exhibits, like the extraordinary Do Ho Suh installation to which we received a guided tour, are enriching.

But as important is the outreach and education roles MMoCA has done so well at over the last 25 years, both welcoming groups to State Street but also taking the life-affirming values of the arts to people and places throughout Dane County and beyond.

MMoCA is an anchor to an arts sector, arts community and arts economy that help define Madison. We’re lucky to have it and them and we don’t take either for granted.
