Madison gym owner is finalist in national training competition
Out of 5,000 nominations, Gilles made the top list
Pat Gilles, the owner of Pat’s Gym on East Main Street, is one of 12 finalists in the America’s Most Inspiring Trainer competition hosted by Reebok One and Well+Good.
Out of more than 5,000 nominees across the United States, Gilles was chosen as one of the finalists by the expert judges of the national competition.
“The athletes that I work with nominated me,” Gilles says. “It was a surprise when I received notice that I was a finalist of thousands of trainers nominated. It’s an honor to be one of the 12 finalists.”
Gilles says he’s been a trainer for 14 years. Through Pat’s Gym, he says he created a philosophy based on four pillars of fitness that include working out consistently, proper nutrition, recovery and stress management.
For Gilles, the stress management aspect is really unique for him and his athletes since it requires an individual to deal with stress at the gym and stress in life.
Last year, there were around 200,000 votes cast in the competition. Currently, Gilles is in first place with 28 percent of the vote and the next closest finalist has 16 percent.
“I tend to be a very humble person, with Wisconsin values,” Gilles says. “I’m very competitive and passionate about what I do, in helping others achieve their goals.”
The winner with the most votes will gain the title of America’s Most Inspiring Trainer along with a one-year contract with Reebok and coverage on Well+Good, a lifestyle and news publication about wellness.
Gilles says he wants Wisconsin to be recognized as a great place for athletes to train and compete nationwide.
“This honor is a great recognition that I have helped people live better and healthier lives,” Gilles says.
