Madison College hosts 9/11 remembrance ceremony
MADISON, Wis. — Madison College honored the victims, survivors and first responders of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks with a special remembrance ceremony Wednesday morning.
The college held the ceremony at the fire bay area of the protective service center.
A firefighter student at Madison Area Technical College said the 9/11 attacks helped her decide her career path.
“Learning about what happened, how it happened, why it happened, what happened after that, it just sparked that I wanted to do something to help people and some protective service,” Gillian Fisher said. “Firefighter, EMS, cop, I just wanted to do something.”
During the ceremony, the college also displayed nearly 3,000 flags along with a memorial wall with the names of the victims of the attacks.
