Madison College, Edgewood College to require masks indoors on campus
MADISON, Wis. — Madison College and Edgewood College will require students, employees and visitors to wear masks inside any of its buildings regardless of vaccination status.
Both policies are in place until further notice.
The change comes as Dane County and the entire state of Wisconsin see a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases linked to the delta variant. Dane County is currently experiencing “substantial” levels of community transmission of coronavirus.
Both Public Health Madison & Dane County and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued similar mask recommendations earlier this month. As of Thursday morning, Dane County did not have a mask mandate in place.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is also requiring all students, employees and visitors to wear masks inside campus buildings.
State employees are also required to wear masks indoors as of Thursday regardless of vaccination status. The Department of Administration also encourages visitors to wear masks while inside state facilities.
Several school districts in southern Wisconsin, including the Verona Area School District and the Sun Prairie Area School District, plan to have students and school employees wear masks while indoors.
