Madison Capitols announce return for 2021-2022 season

MADISON, Wis. — After COVID-19 caused the Madison Capitols to cancel all of their games last year, the franchise announced Monday they’re returning to the ice for the upcoming United States Hockey League season.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming fans back to our arena this upcoming season,” said president Andrew Joudrey. “From hiring our new coaching staff, led by Tom Upton, to new and improved fan experiences, we are excited about our future and look forward to hosting fans for the great atmosphere and energy of Capitols games.”

The announcement means Tom Upton will finally get to coach games as the MadCaps’ head coach. He was hired back in April 2020, but just because there wasn’t a season doesn’t mean he wasn’t working hard to make the Caps a winning franchise.
