Luke Bryan kicks off Farm Tour at Statz Farm in Marshall

Country music singer Luke Bryan kicked off his Farm Tour with a sold-out show at Statz Farm in Marshall on Thursday.

Joe Statz, an owner of the farm, said he had to prepare the land for 20,000 people, a stage and parking.

Statz is hoping Bryan’s Farm Tour will bring more awareness to the downturn in the agriculture industry.

“The last four or five years, agriculture has suffered. We are struggling out here and it’s important that people know that we’re here, we’re out here, we’re still here, and we need their support in any way,” Statz said.

The tour is also bringing attention to local businesses that normally don’t get traffic from people outside of the area.

“It’s good for the city of Sun Prairie and Madison. All of the people here, eating in restaurants tomorrow and today,” Statz said.

Dan Callies, owner of Eddie’s Alehouse and Eatery, said he saw an increase in customers at lunchtime.

“I think it’s awesome, really. Let’s bring some people to this side of town, and we can show everybody what we have here,” Callies said.

Downtown Sun Prairie business owners say they hope to see more events like this one in the future.
