Luella Mae Schmidtke
Luella ‘Casey’ Schmidtke, 84, of Richland Center died on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Pine Valley Manor. Casey was born November 10, 1927 in Richland Center the daughter of Herman and Della Oelke. She graduated from Richland Center High School in 1945. She married Allen Huffman in 1947, and he died in 1963. In 1964, she married Rev. Robert Schmidtke.
Casey was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother, Skip Oelke, and her step-son Bob Schmidtke.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Kim) Huffman, Patti (Tim) Otto, David (Marget) Schmidtke, step daughter Lynn (Takeshi) Miyake, and sister Mildred (Ken) Parduhn. Casey took great pride in her six grandchildren: Steven and Lynn Otto, Leah Rice, Krystal Heiser, Karl and Emma Schmidtke.
In recent years she enjoyed watching her great children play and grow. After raising her children, Casey worked for many years for the commission on aging helping seniors to stay in their homes. Casey will be remembered as a woman of faith who believed in and practiced grace. Casey enjoyed cards, games and a good joke. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary since October 1968.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 at 1100 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Richland Center. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the Schmidtke family.
