Lucille R. Rupnow

Lucille Rose (Kernen) Rupnow, age 90 of Monroe Wisconsin, passed away at Monroe Clinic Hospital on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

She was born June 5, 1927 to John and Hilda (Klassy) Kernen. She was a 1945 graduate of Monroe High School. She married Everette Edward Rupnow on September 19 th , 1945 at St John’s Parsonage in Monroe. They farmed at various locations in the Monroe/South Wayne area while raising three sons. In 1971, they moved to her uncle’s farm in the Monticello area. In 1979 they moved to Monroe. Lucille held various jobs throughout her life, finishing her career at The Swiss Colony Outlet Store in Monroe.

After the death of her husband in 1997, she moved into the Twining Valley Retirement Community. In 2012 she moved to Aster Retirement Community where she lived the remainder of her life.

Lucille was a past member of East Wiota Lutheran Church and a current member of Grace Lutheran Church. Lucille participated in circles at both churches.

Lucille enjoyed reading books by Nicholas Sparks and Nora Roberts. She was an avid card player, especially Euchre, 500 and Yass. Lucille also enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and driving tractor on the farm. She was a sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Brewers, Badgers & Packers. Lucille loved following her grandchildren’s activities. Lucille and Everette owned an antique Cadillac and belonged to the Antique Car Club, traveling with them to Lucille’s favorite destinations of New York, The Grand Old Opry in Nashville, and Branson, Missouri.

Lucille is survived by her three sons Daryl (Kathy) of Stoughton, Lee (Ruth) of Lancaster and Stephen (Cindy) of Monroe. Lucille is very proud of her 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Brent (Linda), Audrey Rupnow; Jill (Pierre) Max and Leo Hilson; Derek (Kaori) Dexter, Kira and Tyler Rupnow; Kyle (Delphine) and Louison Rupnow; Amy (Robb) Nolan, Monique and Rhya Thole; Brad (Coleen) Abigail and Alexa Rupnow; Matthew and Ryder Rupnow; Danielle (Kyle) Gunnison and Wren Hartley. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Helen (Claire) Cross of McConnell, IL, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by Everette, her husband of 52 years, who passed away on October 5 th , 1997; her parents John and Hilda Kernen; her husband’s parents Martin and Inez Rupnow; her brothers Freddy John (age 2), Clarence and Edwin; sisters-in-law Phyllis Kernen and Helen Kernen and nephew, Jeffery Kernen.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Aster Retirement Community and Monroe Clinic Hospital for their care and compassion for Lucille and her family.

Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church 1025 15 th Ave, Monroe, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. Memorials will be given to Grace Lutheran Church. Newcomer Funeral Home in Monroe is serving the family. Condolences may be shared at
