Lucille Patricia Brown
MADISON-Lucille Patricia Brown, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, in Madison, Wisconsin.
The youngest of four girls, she was born March 23, 1957, in Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated from St. Bede’s Academy in 1975 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and then attended University of Minnesota. Besides Wisconsin, she lived many years in Minneapolis, and brief periods in Texas, California, Wyoming, and Ireland. Lucy worked various jobs over the years, most recently for eight years at the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue.
A sensitive creative free spirit. Lucy embraced the peace of nature and animals. She was active in the Circle Sanctuary many years and also a political activist. An adventurer who loved to travel, she was a active participant in Renaissance Festivals, and was also a voracious reader. She was a caring person with a generous giving heart, often saying, “Blessings on you”.
Lucy is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Nelson of Madison, and her cat, Thomas. She is also survived by her sisters, Kristine (Robert) Werner, Diane Brown (Michael Klitzke) of Madison, Julia (Knight) Blank, of Kansas City, and her stepmother, Pat Brown, of Ponce Inlet, Florida. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Katrien Werner of Madison, Daniel Werner in Brazil, Loren Watson in Milwaukee, and Jennifer Blank of Kansas City, plus cousins, uncles, and an aunt in Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Brown.
A family memorial service will be held on July 5, followed by an open celebration of life at 3:30 at her sister’s home at 1826 Windom Way in Madison. Lucy will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
