Lucille I. Ernst
MADISON-Lucille I. Ernst, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018.
She was born on Nov. 12, 1930, in Racine, to Ralph and Goldie (Johnson) Pedersen. She learned to play the piano and wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. Instead she married her sweetheart William Ernst on Dec. 29, 1951, in Racine. Lu taught piano for 35 years, and was the pianist for Faith Baptist Church and Buckeye Evangelical Free Church. She worked with Pioneer Girls Club, served as a Republican Poll Worker and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club. Lu loved Jesus, missions, music, sewing, table games, bowling, Badger and Packer games, nature, looking classy, and entertaining. We honor her for fiercely pursuing truth and excellence, and for her compassion and generosity.
Lu is survived by husband, Bill; son, Eric (Marlies) Ernst; daughter, Ellice (Richard) Dunsterville; brother, Rev. Steven (Kathy) Pedersen; sister-in-law, Lois Pedersen; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Ralph Pedersen and John (Jackie) Pedersen.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 3, 2018, with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding. Burial will be held at Blooming Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
