Louis E. Behrens
WINTER / MADISON / STURGEON BAY – Louis “Lou” E. Behrens, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the V.A. Hospital, Madison.
Lou was born on September 12, 1927 in Highland Park, IL to Louis and Margaret Behrens. He attended Sullivan High School in Chicago until he joined the Merchant Marines, Coast Guard and then the Army, serving in WWII and The Korean Conflict. Louis married Eva Otter in 1950 in Chicago. He graduated from Mankato State Teacher’s College, MN and went on to teach elementary school in Milwaukee while earning his Master’s Degree at UW Milwaukee. Louis retired from his education career in 1975 as Superintendent of the Winter School District. He was then a self employed salesman selling advertising specialties and industrial supplies. Lou was a life-time member of the VFW.
He is survived by his children, Louis (Janet) III, Susan, Kathleen (Kira Milanich) , Kelley (Kim) and Terese (Kevin) Owens; grandchildren, Leigh, Brendan, Megan and Emma; sister, Margaret Later; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Eva.
