Lotte Lina Huelsemann

Lotte Huelsemann, age 92, of Sauk City, formerly of Denzer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

She was born on August 16, 1921 in Schwarzach, Germany, the daughter of Johann and Dora Weber. She worked as a maid for a local Baron in Kulmbach, Germany, before and during World War II.

On November 25, 1942, she married the love of her life, Adolf Huelsemann, while he was on leave from the German Army. In Germany, they had two children, a daughter Marga, born on April 9, 1943, and a son Erich born on May 17, 1947. In May of 1953, Lotte, Adolf, and children immigrated to the United States, and arrived at Ellis Island on June 6, 1953. They proceeded to Wisconsin, where they spent the rest of their lives. It was in Wisconsin that a third child was born, a son Willard on October 10, 1959. Lotte was a member of Denzer United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Erich (Debbie) Huelsemann and Willard (Charlotte) Huelsemann; a son-in-law, Leon Petzke; six grandchildren, Rick Petzke, Erika (Mike) Holloway, Randy (Andrea) Huelsemann, Erich (Kathy) Huelsemann Jr., Justin (Kelli) Huelsemann, and Ryan (Kierstin) Huelsemann; eleven great-grandchildren, Kurt Holloway, Tarra Wilson, Fletcher, Harrison, Nathan, Ethan, Claire, Dayne, Xander, Serenity and Kellen Huelsemann; a sister, Sophie Graf; a step-brother, Fredi Seelmann; many nieces, nephews, and friends in Wisconsin and Germany.

Lotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adolf; a daughter, Marga Petzke; two sisters, Martha Hawrylo and Lina Hofmann; a brother, Erich Weber; and three brothers-in-law, Wasil Hawrylo, Karl Graf and Georg Hofmann, all of Germany.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to the staff of Maplewood of Sauk Prairie for the kind and loving care given to Lotte.

Funeral services will be held at DENZER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, with Pastor Carol Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Denzer Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
