Lorraine Edith Rudie, age 87 of Westby, died, Tuesday, February 11, 2014. She was born on February 23, 1926 to Julian and Gina (Gronvold) Nestingen and was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Lorraine graduated from Westby High School and worked at Westby Coon Valley State Bank prior to her marriage to Merlin Rudie on July 27, 1946. She then raised her family and worked alongside her husband on the farm. She would go on to become a Dietary Aide at the Norseland Nursing Home. Lorraine was a member of the North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, WELCA and a church circle. She was a member of the Homemakers club for many years and loved gardening, sewing, knitting, and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Merlin; six children: David (Bonnie) Rudie of Tomahawk, WI; Jean (Jeff Clark) Rudie of La Crosse, WI; Mary Rudie of Westby, WI; John (Dawn) Rudie of Westby, WI; Randy (Terri) Rudie of Coon Valley, WI; and Seri (Marvin) Sommerfeldt of Sealy, TX; 13 grandchildren: Jeff (Janet) Koll; Taunya (Kirk) Franck; Mariam (Dan) Case; Heather (Jeremy) Bartfield; Ryan (Robin) Rudie; Tara (John) Edwards; Cody, Megan, and Kalan Rudie; Lanie, Bryce, and Brady Rudie; and Chelsea and Lee Sommerfeldt; 12 great grandchildren; three siblings: June Weller; Evonell Frydenlund; and Richard Nestingen; the family dog, Max; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn M. Koll; son-in-law, Terry Koll; and brothers, Virgil and Jerold Nestingen.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11a.m. at the North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor John Stennes-Spidahl will officiate with burial in the Coon Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends are invited for visitation on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Friday after 10:00 a.m.
