Lorene “Lori” Miller

OREGON-Lorene “Lori” Miller, age 70, of Oregon, passed away peacefully at home, with family present and a dog in her lap, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. She was born on March 14, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George and Mary (Pugh) Marsell. Lori was united in marriage to Charlie Miller on Feb. 4, 1966, at Ridge Lutheran Church in Chicago. She graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee. Lori was a long-time employee of Group Health Cooperative. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oregon, where she liked to help with the smorgasbord, and was also a member of Oregon Rotary Club. Lori worked a full time job, raised two kids, and went to school. She would always support her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events and was a proud grandma. Lori was also a world traveler and enjoyed collecting nativity sets.

Lori is survived by her daughter, Diana(Paul)Roehr; son,  Brad (Darbie) Miller; grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa Roehr and Ashton and Cayle Miller; brother, Tom Marsell; sister, Joanne Mustari; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie.

A memorial service will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, with the Rev. Paul Markquart presiding. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made in Lori’s name to PBS or Oregon Rotary.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many folks at Group Health Cooperative, especially Penny Schnabel, and to Adrienne and the F6/6 Nursing team at UW Hospital, and also to Barb Stock and Sue Johnson with St. John’s Lutheran Church. The family also extends their gratitude to everyone who took the time to help and care for Lori.
