Lois M. (Olson) Anderson, age 95, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Madison. She was born on Sept. 27, 1918, on a farm near White Heath, Ill., the daughter of Charles Alva and Grace Olson. As a child Lois rode a pony to a one room school house. After graduating from Monticello High School, she majored in Math Education and minored in Accounting at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Over the years, Lois worked as an accountant for Franklin Life Insurance in Springfield, Ill., Sullivan Chevrolet in Champaign, Ill., and the University of Illinois. On Jan. 8, 1955, Lois married Joe M. Anderson in Monticello, Ill. They lived on a farm near Oakley, Ill. Lois gardened extensively. She was a wonderful cook and pursued photography as a hobby early in life. At Oakwood, Lois enjoyed art therapy and playing choir chimes. Lois is survived by her two children, Peter (Clare Seguin) Anderson and Linda (Masoud Kazemi) Anderson; grandchildren, Eleanor, Elizabeth “Lisa”, Aster and Wubnesh; siblings, Agnes Fischer of Tinley Park, Ill., Marian Allen of Mason City, Ill., and Max Olson of Monticello, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; grandson, Eric; and siblings, Paul Olson, Charles A. Olson, Jr. and Phyllis Ziegler.

Funeral services will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE UNIVERSITY WOODS (WEST), RESURRECTION CHAPEL, 6205 Mineral Point Rd., Madison, at 10:45 a.m., on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.

A second funeral service will be held at PRAIRIE AVENUE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 2201 East Prairie, Decatur, Ill., at 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 26, 2014. Burial will take place in Cerro Gordo, Ill. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
