Lois E. Bowers-Rens

Lois E. Bowers-Rens, age 92, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Rainbow Hospice Care in Johnson Creek, WI. She was born on July 29, 1920 to her parents Gilman J. and Mary (Schwartz) Bowers at Hawley, MN. Lois graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. While a student at Platteville she met and married her husband Mitchell L. Rens. During World War II.  Lois taught in Baraboo while her husband served in the Army overseas. Later she substitute taught for many years at St. Pius Elementary School in Rochester, MN. The couple then moved to Illinois and Lois enjoyed her career working in Real Estate for Century 21. Lois and Mitchell retired to a small farm in Wisconsin to raise sheep and border collies.

Lois loved and enjoyed her family and their many occasions to celebrate. It was her pleasure to show love and affection to her family through meals, family visits, and special occasions. The dinner table was a place to create lasting memories and share conversations with family. She also enjoyed spinning wool, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and bird watching. Lois’s joy of summer was the week she spent with family at Shawano Lake.

Lois and Mitch had fifty four loving years together and raised seven wonderful children; Mary (Thomas) Gray, Kenneth (Helen) Rens, Margaret (Michael) Hughes, Mitchell (Ann) Rens, Nancy (James) Miller, Peter (Brenda) Rens, and Charles (Joi Lynn) Rens. She is further survived by her sister Ruth Bowers; grandchildren Melinda, Melanie, Amanda, Teresa, Rosanna, Brendan, Daniel, Adam, Taylor, Paige, Mariah, Calvin, Mitchell, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren Derek, Lauren, Aiden, Molly, Cooper, and Lexie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mitchell, a son Kenneth, and a sister Virginia Bosley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Michael Moon officiating with burial in the St. James Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Services on Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family.
