Lodi kicker makes her point
The Lodi Blue Devils are the number one football team in Division 4. Their defense gets most of the headlines- they’ve given up 10 total points in 7 games- but one of Lodi’s special teams players is stealing the show.
Sophomore kicker Savannah Curtis got the loudest ovation of the season when she made an extra point.
It’s a moment that Curtis and the Blue Devils won’t forget anytime soon.
“Everybody that was there was just cheering me on, and it was cool. I just zoned everybody out and focused on what I needed to do and get it done.”
Head coach David Puls thinks there will be many more in her future.
“Her approach, her focus, her accuracy. All those things are spot-on to being an excellent kicker. Everyone here knew she could do it.
There’s no doubt in my mind she can be our kicker for the next two years.”
No matter what her football future holds, Curtis’ statement about ladies on the gridiron is simple.
“To prove that girls can do it too.”
So far, so good.
