Lock him up: News 3 meteorologist ‘arrested’ for ‘stealing spring’

Caulfield framed for 'Mother Nature's crimes'

Madison Police Chief Mike Koval arrested News 3 meteorologist Dave Caulfield for “stealing spring” during Live at 4 Wednesday.

Koval, accompanied by Capt. Cory Nelson, said Caulfield is facing charges for spreading false hope and not following through on promises of warmer weather, saying viewers are “tired of this weather.”

“You are accused of theft, of stealing spring and deception of false hope for warmer weather,” Koval said. “You are so obsessed with breaking records that we believe you are instigating this prolonged pain and misery.”

After the arrest, Caulfield said he’s “taking the fall for Mother Nature’s crimes.”

While the officers took the meteorologist away, News 3 anchor Susan Siman reminded viewers that Caulfield is “only the messenger.”

News 3 anchor Mark Koehn, on the other hand, said “Take him away!”

Editor’s Note: The Madison Police Department is not actually pressing charges against Dave Caulfield.
