Local Red Cross volunteers head to Florida for hurricane relief efforts
MADISON, Wis. — As Floridians evacuate their state due to Hurricane Ian, volunteers from Wisconsin are heading south to help the area recover.
A group with the Red Cross will spend the next two weeks helping communities impacted by Ian. They began the drive down to the Sunshine State on Wednesday, bringing with them food, water, blankets, cots and anything else that people might need.
“We’re also a resource for finding out what the communities need,” Phillip Maier said. “Do they have electricity? Do they have water utilities? And then we report that to the headquarters at the American Red Cross.”
The Red Cross is always accepting new volunteers and donations. To learn more visit their website by clicking here.
