Local law enforcement to hold free car seat check in early December

WINDSOR, Wis. — Two local law enforcement groups are partnering with local health care providers next month to provide free car seat checks for area parents.

According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, four out of five car seats aren’t installed or used properly. In addition to that, car crashes are the primary cause of injury and death for kids up to the age of 14.

To counter those injuries and deaths, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and Windsor Police Department will hold the free seat check event on Dec. 8 alongside Safe Kids Wisconsin and UW Health.

The checks will be by appointment only between 3:40 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Windsor Police Department, located at 6770 Depot Street in Windsor.

Any parents looking to sign up can do so by emailing safekids@uwhealth.org or calling or texting 608-333-6087.
