Local doctors react to new CDC, Dane Co. guidance on masks for vaccinated people
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance on mask-wearing Tuesday afternoon, prompting Dane County officials to issue a recommendation that everyone return to wearing masks indoors — even people who are fully vaccinated from COVID-19.
The changes come as the Delta variant continues to surge across the country, local health officials say the Delta variant is the dominant strain of the virus in Dane County, and Wisconsin reported nearly 1,000 new cases of the virus on Tuesday — its highest single-day total since early April, when many people had not yet had the chance to be vaccinated.
UW Health Chief Quality Officer Dr. Jeff Pothof joined News 3 Now Live at Four to give his reaction to the new guidance and how large gatherings like the Milwaukee Bucks’ championship celebration may lead to an increase in coronavirus cases. You can watch the full segment above.
