Loaded gun seized during traffic stop leads to 3 arrests
MADISON, Wis. — Officers seized a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on Madison’s west side Friday afternoon, according to police.
The Madison Police Department said an officer stopped a vehicle in the 2100 block of Leland Drive at 3:12 p.m. Friday.
An officer could see movement that appeared suspicious inside the SUV that had been pulled over, according to the report. The officer believed occupants were trying to conceal a weapon. The loaded gun was found beneath the driver’s seat.
Police said 22-year-old Jakiv M. McReynolds was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and obstructing police. Maurice R. Jenkins, 18, of Madison, was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearm by adjudicated felon and obstructing police. Terrance Moore III, 20, of Madison, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police and a probation violation.
According to the report, McReynolds is homeless.
