Linda Lee Sommer, 60, passed away on Monday, November, 10, 2014 at her home in New Glarus with family by her side. Linda was born on July 7, 1954 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Vernus and Mildred (Bystol) Watkins. A long-time resident of New Glarus, she graduated from New Glarus High School in 1972 and worked as an Assistant Manager of the Chalet Landhaus Hotel for the last 25 years.
Linda was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Paoli, WI. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, attending sporting events, chatting with Landhaus visitors from around the world, and most of all spending time with her family and many close friends.
Linda is survived by three children, Jason (Erika) of Tucson, AZ, Matthew of New Glarus, and Abbigail of New Glarus, two granddaughters Gianna and Madelyn of Tucson, a brother David (Dianne) of Shelton, WA and sister Carol (Jon) of Gold Canyon, AZ, and her aunt Catherine and uncles George and Oscar. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Paul.
She was devoted to all people in her life. Living with and caring for her father, spending hours holding coffee time over Skype with her granddaughters, providing a safe and secure place for her son Matthew during uncertain periods in his life, and serving as a guiding light and comforting voice to so many others over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ-Paoli, 1338 County Rd. PB, Belleville, WI with Rev. Sara Rabe officiating.
A gathering of relatives and friends will follow the memorial service from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Church.
In Lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Zwingli United Church of Christ in Paoli, WI, where Linda found joy and comfort even in trying times.
