Lillian Libbey-Reichelt, 90, of Platteville, died peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Our House Assisted Living, Platteville, surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Community Evangelical Church, Platteville. Pastor Jason Sasse will officiate. Burial will be at the Prairie View Cemetery, Chippewa Fall, Wisconsin, at a later date. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Lillian was born on July 5, 1922 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Samuel and Matilda (Hansen) Garrett. She was married in 1946 to Glenn Libbey and he preceded her in death in 1971. In 1992 she was married to Harvey Reichelt and he preceded her in death in 2002.
Lillian worked at Herberger’s in Chippewa Falls. She over saw the Latch Key program in Platteville for many years and was a volunteer at the Platteville Senior Center. Through her volunteerism with the Latch Key program she became known as “Grandma” to all of the students and people she helped over the years. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker. She also liked to use her talents in decorating.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda (Fred) Dye of Platteville; three grandchildren, Jaime (Amy) Dye and Dr. Jeff (Lori) Dye all of Platteville; Mindy Dye of Verona, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jake, Cara, Lauren Lillian, Rael, Linnea and Rianna. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Samuel, three sisters, Mattie Gilbertson, Grace Nelson, and Myrtle LaBrec, and one brother, William Garrett.
