Lightning strike causes house fire in Adams County

A house caught on fire after it was hit by lightning Monday morning in Adams County, according to a release.

Rome police and fire crews responded to a report of a house on fire at 250 Cranbrook Ct. just before 8 a.m., officials said.

Officers could see flames coming from the northeast corner of the house when they got to the address, according to the release.

Officials said no one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

The home sustained significant fire and water damage, according to the release. The lightning strike damaged the home and a neighboring home’s phone lines.
