Leta Mae Groom
Leta Mae Groom, 82, of Platteville, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Serenity House, Tomah, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, Platteville.
Rev. Dave Barna and Rev. Jeff Nettles will officiate. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Serenity House of Tomah, WI in Leta’s name. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com. She was born on January 6, 1932 in Georgetown, WI, the daughter of Louis and Florence (Curtis) Cunzenheim. She was united in marriage to Norman Lee Groom on January 11, 1950 in Cuba City, WI. Leta worked on the family farm with Norman until being employed at Advance Transformer of Platteville, until it closed. She then worked for Hometown Bakery, until retirement. Family and friends will remember Leta for her love of her savior Jesus Christ. She was a charter member of Rolling Hills church of Platteville. Leta loved and enjoyed her family. Her hobbies included quilting, crafts, and bowling; she was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Leta is survived by seven children, Norman “Rick” (Marie) Groom of Rockford, IL; Terry (Sherry) Groom of Shullsburg, WI; Dennis (Mary) Groom of Dubuque, IA; David (Rhonda) Groom of Platteville; Susan (David) Connor of Camp Douglas, WI; Lori Groom of Platteville; Linda (Steve) Segebarth of Springfield, MO; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Pearl Johns.
