Lester R. Fenne
JANESVILLE— Lester R. Fenne, age 89, of Janesville, died on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Edgerton Long Term Care Center, Edgerton.
He was born in Beloit on April 14, 1923, the son of Eric and Clara (Petersen) Fenne. He served in the U.S. Navy where he was Chief Motor Machinist Mate, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was a Diesel Instructor at Great Lakes Naval Center before going overseas.
Lester married Dorothy E. Thom on July 20, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2008. He had been employed by Fairbanks Morse and retired in 1987. He had been a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and canoe camping.
Lester is survived by his 4 children: Rev. Karen Schulte of Northport, MI, Greg Fenne of Janesville, Ron (Sharon) Fenne of Janesville and Jennifer (Keith Rabiola) Fenne of Fitchburg; 4 grandchildren: Gordon (Jenna) Webb of LaCrosse, Hilary (Terry) Jantzi of Blair, NE, Marcie Fenne of Waunakee and Emma Fenne Rabiola of Fitchburg; and 3 great grandchildren: Lizzie, Elaina and Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Bertha Beadle.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Karen Schulte officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Lasting Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. or the Edgerton Care Center.
