Lester Lester “Les” Nesbit
MADISON, Wis. — Lester L. Nesbit died on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was a very private and modest man. He did not want his detailed life history or his accomplishments listed in his obituary. He was born on Feb. 22, 1940 in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Raymond and Meta (Zentner) Nesbit. Les grew up on the east side of Madison and attended Madison East High School. Upon graduating from college, he started his career as a teacher, and had fond memories of his years at Milton where he was a high school mathematics teacher and coached in the early 60’s.
Les married his high school sweetheart, Mary Bliese, in 1965 and together they raised two sons. In 1978 they moved to Monona. He enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife in his back yard, especially the orioles and baby ducks in the spring of the year. Les was very patriotic and was proud to display his US flag. He liked to travel and considered himself fortunate to be able to visit all 50 states. His favorite location was Elm, Switzerland, birthplace of his grandfather. Les enjoyed his morning walks. He estimated that he walked over 13,000 miles through the streets of Monona. He also contributed to his community by serving six years on the Monona Grove School Board.
Les is survived by his wife, Mary; two children, Brad and Rick (Shawdi) Nesbit of Sun Prairie; two grandsons, Jackson & Mason; a sister, Barbara (Jerry) Grajek of Fairfield, Ohio; a brother, Jerry (Mary) Nesbit of Oregon, Wis., a sister, Sandy (Dan) Wasilewski of Sauk City, Wis., a sister-in-law, Darlene (Verne) Hemberger of Madison Wis.; along with several special nieces and nephews.
