Leonard Owen “Woody” Wodstock
STOUGHTON-Leonard O. “Woody” Woodstock, age 79, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare.
He was born in Center Township, Rock County, Wisc., the son of Leonard H. and Edith (Bratzke) Woodstock. Woody, as he was known to his friends and family, graduated from Stoughton High School in 1952. He served his country in the U.S Army. For the majority of his working career Woody was owner/operator of his own semi-truck driving business. He drove for Pirkle Refridgerated Freight Lines, and Delta Freight Lines out of Madison. He often talked of the beauty in all states during his many years of travel, knowing it was God’s creation.
Woody is survived by his sister, Marlene (John) Lund of Branson, MO; brothers, Russell of Richland Center, Allen of Janesville, John of Fitchburg, Robert of Stoughton, and Donald (Hilda Gaye) of Huntsville, Ala; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Woodstock; and brother, Howard.
Funeral services will be held at SKAALEN CHAPEL, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, with the Rev. James Koza presiding. Burial with military rites will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville. Visitation will be at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. There will be a luncheon at the VFW Post 328, 200 Veterans Rd., Stoughton, immediately following the service.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Skaalen, who will undoubtedly miss Woody’s presence, since their hearts were blessed to serve and keep him comfortable during the past eight years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Skaalen Home Wellness Center.
