Leo E. Knuth
JANESVILLE—- Leo “Uncle Leo” E. Knuth, age 77, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born in Reedsburg on July 5, 1935, the son of Emil and Theresa (Fitzgerald) Knuth. He graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1953, and married Joanie Bodendein in LaValle, WI on Sept. 7, 1963. Leo had been employed by Fairbanks Morse, Beloit, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and volunteered for Mercy Hospital. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Notre Dame.
Leo is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanie; 4 children: Jeff Knuth of Milwaukee, Kelli (Dan) Schmidt of Louisville, KY, Lisa (Jim) Albers of Hartland, WI and Andrea (Mike) Lewis of Seymour, WI; 4 grandchildren: Jaron and Riley Schmidt, Ashlyn Albers and Morgan Lewis; 3 sisters-in-law, Lila Knuth of Sun Prairie, Helen Knuth of Reedsburg and Marcia Knuth of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: Howard, Lyle, Gene, and Donald Knuth; and 1 sister, Dorothy Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Msgr. Donn Heiar officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00 noon at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
