Leigh Wille

In the evening hours of August 1, 2022, Leigh Marie Wille passed away at Sauk Prairie Hospital, with her loving family at her side.

Leigh was born on August 24, 1957 in Coronado, CA to Robert and Helen Sanders. At the age of 12 she moved to Merrimac, WI. As she grew up, she would work at her family’s Nu-Vee Bar and Restaurant, while also attending Sauk Prairie Schools. She met Lon Wille and they fell in love. After graduating in 1975 Lon and Leigh would marry on September 13 that same year. These high school sweethearts would have three children: two boys and one girl.

In January of 1976 she gained employment with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department in Baraboo, WI. She would begin as a dispatcher before working her way up to a position in the Jail Division. She would also join the Sauk County Law Enforcement Association where she would serve as the Secretary for many years.

Leigh was involved with the Wisconsin County Police Association, serving as President for two years. It was during these conferences that Lon and the kids would join her during the last few days for the dinners and awards ceremony before heading out on the yearly family vacation.

She was very hands on with the Kops for Kids program in Sauk County when Christmas time would come around. Her family would assist her in the wrapping of the presents, as well as other duties.

Lon and Leigh’s children grew up and started families of their own. They were blessed with three granddaughters: Autumn (Landon), Gabbi (Lucas) and Lilliana (Lindsey). She loved spending every minute she could with the three girls. Leigh had many wonderful pets in her life. Sammy, her beloved Corgi was one of her favorites.

Leigh is survived by her husband of 46 years Lon Wille. Two brothers: Rick Sanders and Kelly (Deborah) Norris. Her children: Landon (Heather) Wille, Lindsey (Chris) Sparrow and Lucas (Kayla) Wille. Her grandchildren: Autumn Wille, Gabbi Wille and Lilliana Wille.

Leigh was preceded in death by her parents: father Robert and stepmother Helen Sanders, mother Lillian and stepfather Wyman “Jack” Norris. Father-in-law Dale Singleton, brother-in-law Kevin Wille and niece Wynter Muszanowski Lilly.
