Lawrence “Larry” Neal, Sr., age 86 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Eric Sternberg celebrating followed by inurnment at Calvary Cemetery with military rites provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Larry was born August 4, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Jettie and Stephanie (Migas) Neal. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, staying in the United States and was a cryptologist with the National Security Association. On November 8, 1952 he married Mary Andrysiak in Ft. Meyer, Virginia. Following an honorable discharge he worked in Niles, Illinois at Sears and Roebuck and in 1967 moved to Wisconsin Dells and was employed at Hankscraft, formerly Gerber Baby Products, until his retirement. He continued staying busy working at Zinke’s Shop-Rite in Wisconsin Dells.
Larry was a devoted member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and contributed his singing talents, was an active member of Wisconsin Dells Kiwanis Club and meticulously kept track of the grocery orders of the fund raising events like ChikPic, and his rendition of singing Oh Danny Boy would deserve attention. While he was able, he could often be seen walking all around town.
Larry is survived by his son, Larry (Linda) Neal, Jr. of Central Point, Oregon and daughter, Carol (Roy) Leach of Wisconsin Dells; 3 granddaughters and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Cindy) Neal of Romeoville, Illinois and George Neal of Kihei, Hawaii; and sisters, Joan (Richard) Fafinski of Elk Grove Village, Illinois and Margaret Quinby of Bremerton, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Wisconsin Dells Kiwanis or St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church would be appreciated.
