LaVerne Bittner, age 82, died on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Senior Life Center of Reedsburg.
He was born April 21, 1932, the son of the late Lloyd and Agnes (Walch) Bittner Sr. He was united in marriage to Bernadine Decorah on March 19, 1955. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2005. He later married Lucille (Wutz) Lindloff on February 11, 2006. LaVerne was employed by UW Hospital for over 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, traveling, gardening, fishing, hunting, and playing cards, especially cribbage.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; 3 children, Richard Bittner, Sharon Bittner and Sandra Blackdeer; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-greatchildren; a brother, Gene (Jeanne) Bittner; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine; a brother, Lloyd Jr.; and a sister, Margaret Lyons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 300 2nd Street, Baraboo, at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 26, 2014 with Fr. Jay Poster officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Norbert’s Cemetery, Roxbury.
