Lauretta B. Lory
Lauretta B. Lory, 97, of Platteville, passed away on Thursday October 19, 2017, at Sienna Crest in Platteville.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Westview Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Glendenning will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Lauretta was born on August 28, 1920 at home in Platteville township, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Schindler) Carl. Lauretta graduated from Platteville High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Leslie Lory on September 21, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2009. Lauretta loved being outdoors, especially gardening, poultry, and tending to her flowers. She was a sewing leader for the 4-H Woodchucks and also a member of the Grant County Homemakers. She was an active member of Westview Methodist Church, Platteville, where she served in many capacities. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Leslie. But most of all, family was most important to Lauretta; she always made time for her children and was very thankful for every one of them.
Lauretta is survived by three sons, Wayne (Diane) Lory, James (Judy) Lory, and David (Suella) Lory; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lawrence Carl; and sister-in-law, Grace Lory.
