Lauren “Larry” L. Schlinkert
Madison/Lauren “Larry” L. Schlinkert, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017.
He was born in Madison on September 2, 1939 to Leroy and Cora (Lee) Schlinkert. He was a graduate of West High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1962. He was a member of ROTC during college and later joined the Army National Guard.
After college he began working at the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance where he met his wife, Barbara Milton. They were married in 1965 and had two daughters.
Larry was a very private person who enjoyed family vacations, discussing current events and working in his yard. Throughout his teens and later years he could be found in, or under, his current car. He retired from OCI in 2005 after 42 years of service.
Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; his daughters, Lori (Mark) Hanson and Debb Frame; his siblings, Alice Breider and John Schlinkert; and a nephew, Paul (Karen) DuBois, all of Madison. He will forever be “Poppy” to his grandchildren, Ashley Hanson of Denver, and Hunter and Draven Frame (Biagio Gargano) of Madison.
The family would like to thank the special staff at Brookdale Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care in Middleton for their care and compassion and for always treating Larry with dignity and respect.
