Large fire breaks out at garbage facility in Lake Delton

Firefighters from eight departments were called out battle a blaze at a garbage facility in Lake Delton on Friday.

Officials said that the fire at the Waste Management transfer station started shortly after a load of garbage was brought into the building. The blaze quickly spread into a large fire, which caused significant damage. About 65 firefighters were called to the facility at about 3:30 p.m. and worked for a few hours to put the flames out.

A couple of firefighters suffered slight heat exhaustion, officials said.

No word yet on the cost of the damage, WISC-TV reported.
