La Follette grave markers restored, rededicated

MADISON, Wis. — The gravesite of two Madison icons looks good as new.

The Progressive Magazine unveiled a newly restored a grave marker on Saturday for Robert La Follette and his wife Belle La Follette at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The La Follettes were politically active throughout their lifetimes; Bob served as governor of Wisconsin, while Belle fought for women’s rights.

The pair founded The Progressive Magazine, then known The La Follette’s weekly in 1909.
